A Switch In Thinking

As I was eating breakfast this morning, I decided to read instead of listening to the radio. In doing that, I read something rather profound. It's not anything new, but it just resonated with me right now. The author was saying we view relationships with an economic metaphor. We value people, invest in them, etc. Love then is a commodity we give when we expect something in return. BUT, Jesus has said we need to love people unconditionally...turn the other cheek...heap burning coals on their heads.

The question is how often do I love people based on how they treat me, or whether or not I like them?

Thanks Rachel, for posting that profound truth. Somehow our love for people is very conditional- how removed from God [perfection] we are.
