Small Joys

One of my excitements lately has been coming home to a yummy smelling house. I've been trying some new recipes in my crockpot and enjoying the results immensely. First there's the treat of not having to cook when I get home...it's already done. Then there's the knowledge that it's home-cooked and not take-out or pre-packaged. The only downside is the prep it takes before I leave the house in the morning. But in the end it's totally worth it. AND these meals are usually good enough to eat all week, or else freeze well meaning I'll still eat well when I don't want to take time to cook. The benefits certainly outweigh the negatives.

Another treat I had last weekend was enjoying amazing music performed by the Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra and the Chilliwack Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. I don't often indulge myself with live orchestral performances, but when I do I am almost always blown away by the music and musicians. The added bonus was seeing my brother-in-law perform and conduct as well. At that concert the host asked us to imagine what life would be like without music. I don't know if I could live in a world without music. I enjoy listening to it so much, especially certain types and time periods, that life without music would be almost unbearable. I also believe it is one example of how we worship and praise God our creator.

I'm glad for these small joys in my life.
