Last Sunday my Oma passed away. My siblings, their spouses and I were together just now telling stories of what we remembered about her. What do I remember about her? Here are a few things: big round peppermint cookies; eating raspberries from her garden - I haven't found berries quite the same, but every once in a while I eat one that brings me back to my childhood; playing with her decorations and trinkets in her living room – sea shells, small little chairs, snow globes; hunting for Easter chocolate around the house and yard; watching her crochet and trying to learn from her; singing together; listening to her sing to me; hearing her say “I love you, I pray for you every day”. These are the things I want to think about when I think of my Oma. She was a special person and it will be different without her around.
Psalm 30:4-5
Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
