I love it when a weekend doesn't have tons scheduled, particularly long weekends. Sometimes I feel guilty that I don't have anything planned, and this weekend was one of those. When everyone asks "What are you doing for the long weekend", it turns it into so much pressure to compete. I was sort of discouraged that I hadn't put a lot of planning into the weekend. But then it just happened.
Friday I went mini-golfing with some friends. We were outside in the gorgeous weather, being silly and not really serious about the game, until the last hole of course where a hole-in-one gives you a coupon for a free game. Well, after playing lousy the whole game, I got a hole-in-one.
Saturday I went shopping with my mom. I spent way too much, but ended up getting a bicycle so I can get some fresh air and exercise in a different way. Then I went for a nice ride in the early evening. It was the hottest part of the day, but the wind felt cool on my back as I pedalled my way down the road. A friend came over later for a movie and we hung out and talked for a good long time.
Sunday I had planned a sleepover with little friend (7 years old). My oh my she likes to talk...and ask questions. She can't stay busy at one thing for very long, unless it's TROUBLE (the game) and she's winning, or drawing/colouring pictures. We ate and swam and played games and read stories and went to a park and talked...oh and slept. It was a fun time.
Now it's late afternoon; the weekend's coming to a close. What did I love about it? The weather was perfect. It was good to see friends and spend extended time with a few special ones. The spontaneous times made me realize that life is good, something to be lived and enjoyed, not always analyzed.
