What a weekend! What a team! I can't say what impressed me more...the non-stop ice cream scoopers, the dough rollers, the fry ladies, the watermelon choppers, or the never-tiring henna artists. All in all, everyone worked hard, and with God's strength, we had a full and fun weekend. So, what did I learn?
- That God gives enough strength to get through one day, then provides night for sleep and rejuvenation. On Friday night, I was glad to be able to leave the sale and get home to bed. Although my alarm went off early Saturday morning, I felt refreshed enough to get up and get ready for the day. Saturday was full of watching the lines of people, taking money, giving change, running to the bank to get more change. All this made for an exhausting day, especially when it was accompanied by heat. But again I was glad when we were finished cleaning up at the church, and I could rest for the evening.
- That my team is full of willing servants. I was amazed at the work each person put in - from scooping ice cream all day to selling garage sale items, from rolling dough and cutting rollkuchen to drawing meticulous patterns on people's arms and legs, and everything in between, everyone was involved and that encouraged me immensely.
- That God is amazing and gives us what we need when we rely on HIM! The weather couldn't have been better for selling ice cream, rollkuchen and watermelon, and the church continues to support us even though we have done so many fundraisers geared for our church. Thank you!
Now that our fundraising is finished, the rest of the time before India will be focused on preparing ourselves for the experience. I hope and pray that we will all feel ready to go when July 30 hits. For now, I'm still trying to recup from last week...when can I go back to bed?!?
