India...on the horizon

Well, here I am. I've finally jumped onto the "blog" bandwagon. I figured it was about time, so here goes.

The last few months have been quite a journey. While it's one thing to talk about traveling, especially traveling overseas, it's quite another to actually go. I found that out when I travelled to Europe a few years ago. I had wanted to go for so long, and then when it actually became reality, it was exciting yet surreal at the same time. But this is a little different. It's not just a holiday. With some prodding from God and others, I decided to take this leap of faith. And so, I'm off...in a few months. A team of 9 is going to India this summer to visit friends, participate in their ongoing activities like Kids Club, bhangra workouts, fort-building, etc, and see what their life is really like on the other side of the world. Believe it or not, I am part of this team. It's a great team and I'm looking forward to bonding as we continue to plan and participate on this trip.

The logistics of course are the important part of the planning - booking tickets, finding time to get shots, visas, passports, raising money, all that sort of stuff. That's where we're at right now. Then there's getting used to eating some different food - a bigger challenge than you might think since I don't really enjoy spice all that much. Give me good old pasta, meatballs, pizza, anything else that seems 'normal' for an average person living in North America.

I'm excited, nervous, apprehensive, but in general looking forward to what God will teach me through this experience. Stick around for updates along the road.

Hey, that's neat! Guess what? We did the same thing David did - set up our own blog so we can make a comment. (actually I had to try and figure it out on my own while dad went to the "office"). We'll see if it works or not.

Ours is: http://benthebuilder.blogspot.com

Have a good day, everyone!
